June 14th marks the 13 year anniversary of the great Irish blues/rock guitarist's passing. I first became enthused with Rory back in '73 when I heard "Walk On Hot Coals" and "Tattood Lady" on FM radio. I also had the great fortune to see and hear him four times in Vancouver during some of his 30 + North American tours (he was on the road over 300 days a year).
After work Saturday, and before I head out to hear Verna and co at the local Jazz Fest, I'll be putting on a Gallagher DVD.
Here are three youtube clips: the first is a performance of "Off The Handle" from 1979's Top Priority; the second is his last TV transmission; the third an apt reworking (eleven months before his death) of 1971's "I Could've Had Religion".
